NSU Night at the Florida Marlins

Join the NSU Alumni Association at NSU Night with the Florida Marlins and watch the Florida Marlins take on the Tampa Bay Rays! Tickets: $15 per person; includes a tailgate food voucher (redeemable for one hot dog, one bag of chips, and one bottle of soda or water) and an NSU commemorative baseball cap; cash bar available. Seats are located in the Bullpen (section 103–107).

An Evening at the Sugar Bar in NYC

On Saturday, March 21, the Eastern New York Alumni Chapter of Nova Southeastern University hosted An Evening at the Sugar Bar featuring Dena Robins (Lady Bird Sunshine), Ed.D., '06 performing a tribute to various female vocalists and song writers, from Billie to Badu and beyond.

NSU Alumni Night at the Florida Panthers

Two hundred members of the NSU community gathered on Friday, April 3 to watch the Panthers take on the Atlanta Thrashers. Attendees enjoyed a night of food, drinks and fellowship while cheering on their favorite team.


Bill Maher LIVE from NSU

On Saturday, April 11, NSU friends, family, and colleagues met for a truly entertaining evening.

For the last 15 years, Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last six years on HBO's Real Time, Maher's combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 21 Emmy nominations.

Gregory Chambers D.B.A., '09 currently serves as a lead project engineer in the United States Marine Corps command.


Ricardo P. Deveaux M.S., '92 On Saturday, May 9, 2009, Mr. Deveaux will give Bethune-Cookman University's 2009 commencement address. Mr. Deveaux will receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Mr. Deveaux is an official with the government of The Bahamas, serving as senior assistant secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, where he manages a $1 million dollar grant program that assists young Bahamian entrepreneurs in establishing or expanding their small businesses. He also is the president and CEO of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation, a non-profit foundation established to recognize outstanding primary school students. The Foundation has presented over $250,000 in scholarships and prizes to outstanding primary school students since 2005.


Herm Fishbein Ed.D., ’94 was appointed as Executive Director of the Renaissance Learning Academy in Palm Beach County, Florida’s first Charter High School specifically dedicated to the education of youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Asperger’s. Renaissance’s “Preparation for Life”, community based curriculum focuses on Life skills attainment and provides community internships and specialized transitional activities. Renaissance will be opening in August for the start of the 2009-2010 school years.

Thomas W. MacFarland Ed.D., ’86 presented at the Florida Association for Media in Education conference, on the topic of Media Matters:  Outcomes from the 2006-2007 SUNLINK Data Collection Project.


Frances McMllian M.A., ’06 retired from teaching public high school foreign language in May 2008. Ms. McMillian states, “Because of getting my M.A. in education with an emphasis in computer technology integration from Nova, I was able to obtain a dream job at a small, Christian college. My degree from Nova has prepared me well for this job.”


Mary T McCullagh M.S., ’98 Ms. McCullagh attended the Fulbright Germany Spring Teacher Exchange and Seminar in June 2008 as well as the Gilder-Lehrman Institute Summer Seminar "Interpreting the Constitution" at Stanford University. She is an Alumni Council member for the Vladka and Ben Meed Teachers' Institute for Teaching the Holocaust and Jewish Resistance in Poland and Israel, and has been a member of the Florida State Education Commissioner's Task Force on Holocaust Education, since 2006. This year, she has presented at the International Studies Schools Association Conference in Tampa and at the Advanced Placement National Conference in San Antonio. Recently, Ms. McCullagh was appointed to Our Elder Brothers and Sisters Foundation as an Advisory Board member.
