Florida Osteopathic Medical Association Alumni Reception
The NSU-COM Alumni Association held an informal reception during the 105th Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (FOMA) Annual Convention held February 22 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. Approximately 85 individuals attended the reception, including representatives from FOMA as well as current and past American Osteopathic Association presidential leaders.
It proved to be a fun evening that included greetings from 1986 NSU-COM alumnus Robert Blackburn, D.O., the 2008-09 Alumni Association president, who welcomed everyone and introduced the dignitaries that were present. “We continue to have more and more alumni attending our functions,” said Howard Neer, D.O., FACOFP, who serves as associate dean of alumni affairs. “Everyone always has a good time.”
“The state of Florida is home for several hundred of our alumni,” said Lynne Cawley, M.Sc., director of alumni affairs. “We always have a great crowd at FOMA that includes alumni, students, faculty, and other physicians from various medical associations—and even from other schools. The students love to come to our events to network with alumni, and the alumni love to share stories with our students.”
