Shark Shuffle 2007- Sunday, September 23, 2007
On Sunday, September 23rd, the NSU Wellness Committee will host the Second Annual NSU Shark Shuffle 5K Run and Walk, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and Collegiate Risk Management. The race/walk begins at 7:30 a.m., sharp. At 8:30 a.m., kids will have a chance to zoom around a fun-run course, and at 8:45, we start handing out prizes!
The Shark Shuffle 5K (approx. 3.1 miles) is called the Shark Shuffle for a reason. Those who wish to run can compete for the fastest time (last year, the first place finisher took a mere 15 minutes and 40 seconds to get to the ice-cold water bottles at the end of the course), but walkers are also welcome, as are wheel-chair entrants.
The Shark Shuffle is designed to promote health and wellness among the NSU community and to raise grant money for NSU students. The motto of the race is Raising Dollars for Active Scholars. NSU students who participate, either as runners or walkers, will be entered into a random drawing for thirty $500 Active Scholar grants.
This year, we hope to greatly expand the involvement of NSU alumni. As an alumnus, you and your family members can register for the event for $12. Free food, drinks are available to all participants, and the first 500 people to register are guaranteed a free t-shirt.
Registration can be completed online at http://www.rec.nova.edu/sharkshuffle.html, by mail, or in person at the RecPlex and local running stores. Questions? You can find details on the website, or you can call 954-262-7021. We look forward to seeing you there! |
