Richman Greer, P.A., a law firm offering a wide range of litigation and business-related legal services, is pleased to announce that Litigation attorney John R. Whittles has been named a Shareholder.
“John Whittles is an outstanding attorney that has made numerous contributions to the firm and to the Palm Beach community. We are pleased to welcome him as a Shareholder,” said Manuel Garcia-Linares, Managing Shareholder. Whittles, who was previously an Associate with the firm, practices primarily in the areas of complex commercial litigation, employment law, constitutional law and election law.
An active member of the community, Whittles currently serves as an advisor for Floridians for Healthcare, Inc., a not-for-profit healthcare watchdog group, having advised the organization on legal matters related to universal healthcare, stem cell research and labor issues for non-physician healthcare professionals.
As an Executive Committee Member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association (YLS), he coordinates projects for purchasing school supplies for underprivileged elementary school children, supplying refurbished computers to impoverished families and taking underprivileged elementary school children on educational field trips. Currently the President-Elect for the YLS, Whittles has served the group in various capacities since 2000. He was previously the Chairman for a number of the group’s projects including the Palm Beach Elementary School Career Day (2004-2006), the Florida Bar’s Young Lawyers Division Affiliate Outreach Conference (2004-2005), and the Youth Mock Trial Competition (2004-2007). He is also the former Treasurer (2005-2006) and Secretary (2006-2007) of the Association.
His work and contributions to the community and the field of law have been recognized throughout his career. In 2003, Whittles was selected for enrollment in Leadership Palm Beach County, a one-year program in which local community leaders are educated on and interact with various organizations in the county including the Board of County Commissioners, South Florida Water Management District and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
In February 2007, Richman Greer, P.A. was awarded the Palm Beach County Pro Bono Society’s Law Firm of the Year Award, based on the efforts of Whittles and his law partner, Ronald P. Ponzoli, Jr., in assisting and tutoring the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society’s lawyers in representing homeless and underprivileged Palm Beach County residents in need of legal services.
A resident of Tequesta, Whittles received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court’s Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
