NSU Healthy Aging Expo 2007- Sunday, March 11, 2007
NSU will host its 2nd Annual NSU Healthy Aging Expo 2007 on Sunday, March 11. This free event is open to the public. It will be held in the Health Professions Division of NSU’s main campus, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The event will feature lectures on aging and wellness, provided by NSU faculty, health screenings, healthy aging information, and lunch for those pre-registered, as well as many giveaways and raffle prizes.

The Office of Career Services at Nova Southeastern University is hosting the South Florida Career Conference and Exposition on Wednesday, March 21 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. This event previously attracted more than 2000 attendees and hosted local, regional and national employers.  NSU academic programs will be showcased at this premier event as well.  Additionally, the South Florida Career Conference and Exposition receives regional and statewide marketing, is open to other students and graduates of other universities and invites the South Florida community to attend.  This wonderful networking opportunity will be held on the beautiful NSU Fort Lauderdale-Davie campus in the new 366,000 square-foot University Center. Literary Feast- Saturday, March 24, 2007
Twenty-five authors, including Adriana Trigiani, Jennifer Crusie, Farrah Gray and New York Times sports columnist William Rhoden appearing with NFL great Doug Williams, will speak at Literary Feast’s LitLIVE!, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center and the Black Box Theater at the University Center. Come meet the authors at the Authors’ Café at the Library, and enjoy free entertainment throughout the day. The first 1,000 students to visit the NSU welcome table will receive two tickets to a Florida Panthers game. Nova Southeastern University is the Literary Feast Title Sponsor. NSU shuttles will run from the Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale to the Alvin Sherman Library at 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., and return to the Main Library at 12:45 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. LitLIVE!’s author speaking schedule is available at the Alvin Sherman Library and all Broward County libraries, as well as on-line at www.broward.org/library. Tampa Alumni Chapter – “Explore the Bay”- Saturday, April 14, 2007
The NSU Alumni Association invites you to “Explore the Bay with the Tampa Alumni Chapter.”

Join your fellow Tampa Bay area NSU alumni, family and friends for an afternoon of lunch and an EcoTour of the Bay aboard a catamaran. We’ll start with a private lunch at Channelside’s Mexican themed restaurant Margarita Mama’s. Chapter President Joe Perez is excited to announce the alumni chapter plans for the year as we enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch, everyone will take a short walk over to the Florida Aquarium for a ride on the 64-foot Bay Spirit Catamaran. The tour of the Bay lasts approximately 1 ½ hours and is sure to give you a close up look at dolphins, birds and native fish. Please feel free to bring family and friends – but RSVP early because space is limited.

NSU’s A&E Circle Hosts Inaugural Breakfast
The inaugural NSU A&E (Alumni & NSU Employee) Circle breakfast was held on January 24 in conjunction with Homecoming 2007.  More than 70 A&E’s attended the breakfast in the University Center.

The breakfast was the first of many gatherings that will be organized to celebrate the dual affinity the group has to the university. 

The mission of the NSU A&E Circle is to celebrate alumni who are also employees, promote camaraderie among the members, strengthen member loyalty to the university, and to encourage members to support the university’s annual fund.

NSU Alumnus Chosen Among this year’s Top 100 Irish-Americans
Dr. Richard O'Connell (Ed.D. 1980), a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, was picked by the Irish-America Magazine to be one of this year's Top 100 in the field of education. The purpose in honoring each recipient, according to Editor Patricia Harty is that, "In America, like nowhere else, we are proud of simple beginnings and where they can take you when you stick to the road, though the going may be tough."

John DiBenedetto is the 2006 Alumni Achievement Award winner for the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship
Dr. DiBenedetto (D.B.A. 1993) currently holds the position of Vice President for Wal-Mart University where he launched their first corporate university in 2005.  He is also responsible for talent planning and succession management for Wal-Mart USA.  His talent development solutions support 1.3 million managers and associates. 
 
His avocation is teaching.  Dr. DiBenedetto has been an adjunct professor for more than 20 years at six different higher education institutions. 

In 2006 Dr. DiBenedetto received the American Society for Training and Development “Best” Award, the MASIE Foundation Learning Leadership Award, and was featured on the cover of the Chief Learning Officer magazine. 

Dr. DiBenedetto was elected to the Conference Board’s Council on Learning, Development and Organizational Performance in 2001 and it’s Council on Leadership Development in 2004.  He is an active member in the Society for Human Resources Management, American Society for Training and Development, International Society for Performance and Improvement and Organization Development Network. 


Robert Goldberg is the 2006 Alumni Achievement Award winner for the College of Dental Medicine
Dr. Goldberg (D.M.D. 2003) is the owner and an Endodontist at Advanced Care in Endodontics, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Evanston Northwestern Hospital.

In addition, he is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon- National Dental Honor Society and the American Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Goldberg has received numerous awards and honors including the American Association of Hospital Dentists’ Outstanding Resident Award and the International and American Associations for Dental Research presented him with the Dental Materials Award in 1997.  He also received the Walter E. Memorial Award from the Odontographic Society of Chicago.  

Currently, Dr. Goldberg serves as Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee for the American Association of Endodontists and also serves on the Admission Committee for the University of Illinois at Chicago.
