Nova Southeastern University Baseball Team Participates in Miracle League World Series Game
The Nova Southeastern University baseball team participated in the Miracle League World Series Game at Miracle League Field on Friday evening in Rose G. Price Park.
The World Series was the culmination of an eight-week season for the Miracle League All Stars, a team of children with special needs and disabilities who have realized their dream of playing organized baseball.
The entire Sharks baseball team and coaching staff were on hand to give the Miracle League children assistance in batting, fielding, throwing, running the bases and enjoying the game of baseball. To cap the evening, the NSU players removed the game uniforms from their backs, autographed them and presented each Miracle League player with a jersey as a memento from the festive occasion.
The City of Pembroke Pines recently built the baseball/softball facility, where dugouts are extra-wide and the field is made entirely of rubberized turf to accommodate the use of wheelchairs. In addition, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital has been a partner along with Orlando Team Sports and Nike in donating uniforms, gear and supplies for the Miracle All Stars this season.
Each of NSU's 16 athletic teams actively participates in volunteering and special events throughout the year, in an effort to give back to the South Florida community.
