Ready, Set, Go!- Thursday, August 28, 2007
The Moran Outreach Initiative and the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies of Nova Southeastern University proudly present a free monthly parenting workshop at the Hallandale Beach Branch of the Broward County Public Library. This month’s workshop Ready, Set, Go! will teach parents how to prepare their children for the transition to kindergarten.
Explore this and other topics during each monthly installment of workshops held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hallandale Beach Library, located at 300 South Federal Highway.
The workshops are led by Mildred Hightower, M.A., Parent Support Specialist for NSU’s Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies. Hightower’s background in early childhood development and parenting spans a 27-year career that includes serving in such positions as Director of the Irma Hunter Wesley Fort Lauderdale Child Development Center, Director of Broward Country School Board of Little Learners Daycare for Teen Mothers, Curriculum Coordinator for Susie C. Holley Cradle Nursery.

Tuesday, Dec. 18 - Encouraging Positive Behavior in Children
This workshop will teach parents techniques to help develop their children into positive individuals.
The Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies is housed in the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village of Nova Southeastern University, a state of the art demonstration and training facility which enables the institute to showcase best practices in the fields of parenting education, early childhood education, special education and family support through a variety of classes, programs and workshops. The Moran Community Outreach Initiative increases the institute's reach by thousands of children and families, ensuring that significantly more children in Broward County are prepared to succeed in school.
