NSU Women’s Rowing Team Finishes Strong at Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Spring Championships

The Nova Southeastern University women's rowing team finished strong at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association's Championship Regatta on Melton Hill
Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

"To put three boats in Grand Finals is a superior overall effort," said head coach John Gartin. "We are looking forward to elevating our performance one more notch before the conference championships.”

The Sharks' Lightweight 4+ won their event as they beat Virginia Tech, the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Georgia State with a time of 8:06.2.

NSU's Varsity 4+ finished the regatta with a third place finish, beating the University of Miami, Murray State and the University of Kansas, with a time of 8:05.8. The Sharks finished behind William & Mary and Kansas State.

The Sharks' Varsity 8+ finished fourth behind conference rivals Barry University, who finished first with a time of 7:03.3, Grand Valley State University and the University of Washington. The crew finished ahead of Florida Tech and the University of California San Diego with a time of 7:17.0.

NSU's women's pair also competed in the regatta, finishing fifth in its individual heat.

The Sharks will return to the water on May 7 as they will take part in the Sunshine State Conference Rowing Championships on Krome Avenue in Miami, Fla.
