Mailman Segal Institute’s “Evening Under the
Stars” - Saturday, April 29, 2006
Willy Wonka would delight in plans for “Evening Under the
Stars,” the annual scholarship fund-raiser for the Mailman
Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies. Beginning at 7:30
p.m. on Saturday, April 29, the institute’s home at the Jim & Jan
Moran Family Center Village will be transformed into a child’s
confectionary dream.
Guests will delight in a tempting selection of desserts and beverages
inspired by Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, including
a chocolate fountain, decadent chocolate desserts, specialty coffee
bar, and chocolate martini bar. The evening’s main event is a silent auction which will feature one–of-a-kind,
child-sized furniture personalized by children who attend the institute’s
programs, along with items and services donated by community sponsors.
Chocolate bars will be sold for $5 each starting on Monday, April
24, in the lobbies of the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village,
7600 SW 36th St., Davie. Child-oriented prizes will be awarded
instantly to those who find a Golden Ticket hidden underneath the
wrapper!
The event supports the scholarship funds of the institute’s
Early Learning Programs. Additionally, Dean Wendy Masi, Ph.D.,
will honor the teachers of the Family Center Preschool, Parenting
Place, Baudhuin Preschool, and Infant and Toddler Program.
Tickets to “Evening Under the Stars” are $25 per person or $45 per
couple. Dress is casual. Call 954-262-7162 for information.
