Department of Family Therapy at SHSS Co-sponsors Conference- November 3-5, 2005 5
The Department of Family Therapy at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association (SFBTA) is co-sponsoring the 3 rd Annual Conference on Solution-focused Practices November 3-5.
The core philosophy underlying the Department of Family Therapy’s work is that positive change can be brought about by helping clients focus and build upon their own existing strengths and resources. The department trains marriage and family therapists to help individuals, couples, and families create positive changes in their relationships as well as understand the power of relationships in everyday living.
The SFBTA was established on October 20, 2002, "To foster the exchange of ideas and practices in the field of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy." Each year the SFBTA holds a conference to bring together leaders in the solution-focused therapy field.
This year’s conference will be held on the Nova Southeastern University Main Campus and feature plenary speakers Insoo Kim-Berg, co-developer of the Solution-focused Brief Therapy model, and Therese Steiner, renowned Swiss psychiatrist, as well as workshops conducted by well known practitioners such as Yvonne Dolan. Over 200 family therapy and mental health practitioners from across both the United States and the world are expected to attend.
