John M. Spalding is the alumni award winner for the College of Optometry.
As the Senior Optometrist for VA Healthcare
Center in Orlando, Florida, Dr. Spalding diagnoses and manages
refractive disorders, ocular diseases and ocular manifestations
of systemic diseases.
He serves as a liaison between private optometric contractors and the VA eye
clinic and is involved in the continuing education of ophthalmic
technicians and primary care providers regarding eye care.
Dr. Spalding is a member of several professional
groups, including the Florida Optometric Association, and the Central
Florida Optometric Society, and is a member and Fellow of the American
Academy of Optometry. He is the recipient of the American Academy
of Optometry Travel Fellowship and the Nova Southeastern University
Student Leadership Award.
He is the author of several publications and
conducts lectures around the country. His future goals include
continuing to learn new methods for diagnosing and managing eye
diseases and to continue to publish and lecture.
