John Michael O’Brien, Pharm.D. 2000 is the alumni award winner for the College of Pharmacy
Dr. John O’Brien is the alumni award winner for the College of Pharmacy.
As Director of State Policy of the Pharmaceutical
Research and Manufacturers of America, Dr. O’Brien develops and executes the state policy agenda for the company’s lobbying, ally development and public relations efforts. He works with policymakers to improve the access and affordability of prescription drugs for the uninsured.
He is currently also a full time health policy
and management graduate student at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School
of Public Health and a clinical assistant professor in the Rutgers
University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program.
He is the recipient of the Directors Leadership
Award from Sankyo Pharma and has completed the Executive Residency
in Association Management in Leadership at the American Society
of Health Systems Pharmacists and the American Medical Student
Association Washington Health Policy Fellowship.
His future goal is to help business and politicians “do well by doing good” and help Americans appreciate the value of responsible health choices. He aspires to create partnerships that leverage consumer behavior and political will to reduce disparities, improve health outcomes, decrease costs and improve access for America’s neediest populations.
Dr. O’Brien credits Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy’s commitment to student leadership and its non-traditional practical opportunities for his multi-disciplinary accomplishments.
