Janet S. St. Lawrence, Ph.D. 1980 is the alumni award
winner for the Center for Psychological Studies
- For the last ten years, Dr. Lawrence has served as Senior Biomedical
Research Scientist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
She is responsible for the application of behavioral science
to national and international public health problems, including
AIDS and HIV.
- She is a licensed clinical psychologist and a member of the
American Psychological Association.
- She has received millions of dollars in AIDS research grants
and is the recipient of honors and awards for outstanding accomplishments
in her field every year for the last twenty years, including
the American Psychological Association’s “Distinguished
Leader in Psychology and AIDS” award.
- Dr. Lawrence has served as an editorial consultant for numerous
publications and journals and is the author of several books
and manuscripts on AIDS and HIV education and prevention, psychology,
and schizophrenia.
- She is the proud mother of six. In her spare time, she enjoys
weaving, gardening, reading and being a grandmother to her six
grandchildren.
