Baseball, Softball and Women’s Golf Open This Weekend With Men’s Golf, Tennis and Rowing Soon to Follow
The start of the spring sports season
is upon us with the 2005 NSU baseball, softball and the spring
women’s golf season
all set to start this weekend. Each sport has been busy preparing
for its upcoming season.
Baseball will lead the way, as it opens
its 2005 season at home with the Nike/OTS Challenge, which is
also being co-hosted by Lynn and Barry. A total of six games
will be played at the NSU Baseball Complex, beginning with NSU’s season opener against
Mars Hill College on Friday, February 4 at 6:00 p.m. The
Knights take the field again for two games on Saturday, February
5, as they face Florida Tech at 11:00 a.m. and then take on Tusculum
College at 7:00 p.m. with Florida Tech facing Mars Hill in between
at 3:00 p.m. The weekend concludes on Sunday, February 6
when Florida Tech and Tusculum square off at 11:00 a.m. followed
by NSU against Lynn University at 3:00 p.m.
The NSU softball team will also open
its season next weekend, its 2005 season on the road at Northwood
University, as it will face the Seahawks in a doubleheader on
Saturday, February 5 at 1:00 p.m. NSU then returns home
for its home opener, a doubleheader against the University of
North Florida on Sunday, February 6 at 12:00 p.m.
Rounding out the sports opening the spring
calendar this weekend will be the nation’s 10 th ranked NSU women’s
golf team, which will open at the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. New
head coach Kevin Marsh will lead the Lady Knights into the 36-hole
event, which will be played on Saturday, February 5-Sunday, February
6 at Cougar Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
Meanwhile, the No. 17 NSU women’s tennis team begins
its spring season on February 11 at home against Palm Beach
Atlantic University. The NSU men’s golf team will begin
its spring schedule on Monday, February 21 at the AASU Pirate Invitational
hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University at South Bridge Golf
Club in Savannah, Ga. The women’s rowing team returns
to the water for its spring season on February 26 at the Stetson
Sprints in DeLand, Fla.
