NSU’s Women’s Basketball Team Maintains Perfect 4-0 Record on the Road

Last weekend, NSU’s women’s basketball team (10-8, 5-2 SSC) pushed its conference record to 5-2 and a perfect 4-0 on the road, as it knocked off South Region No. 2 Tampa 58-55, snapping the Spartans 10-game home winning streak.  NSU junior guard Missy Guadagnino ( Winter Springs, Fla.) scored in double figures for the eighth straight game, as she netted a team-high 16 points (7-11, 0-1, 2-5) in the Lady Knights' ninth win in the last 10 games.

The game was close throughout the first half before NSU closed the half on a 13-3 run to take a nine-point lead into the half. Cloud led NSU to the half-time advantage, as she scored 10 points before the break.

In the second half, Tampa opened with a 5-0 run to cut the NSU lead to five. The Spartans continued to close and with 5:02 remaining in the game Mathis hit a three-pointer for the first and only tie in the contest. A lay-up by Martin restored NSU's lead at 49-47 with 3:25 left and then NSU forward Jennifer Havens (So., Ontario, Ore.) connected on a lay-up of her own to stretch the lead to four points.

After Tampa's Skinner hit a lay-up with 1:56 to go and make it a two-point game, NSU went 7-of-10 from the free throw line to seal the win and remain unbeaten on the road in conference play (4-0).
