NSU Places a Pair of Student-Athletes on SSC Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement for November

A pair of NSU men’s basketball student-athletes were named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement for the month of November, it was announced Friday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.  A total of 87 student-athletes representing all nine SSC member schools were selected to the October list.

Sophomore point guard Oresti Nitsios (Victoria, Australia) and freshman David Naylor (Melbourne, Australia) were both named to the Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement for the first time.

Nitsios started off the season on a steady note as he averaged 10.7 points and 2.0 assists in just three games.  The sophomore notched a .524 field goal percentage (11-21) and a 556 three-point percentage, shooting 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.  Nitsios also finish a perfect 5-of-5 (1.000) from the free-throw line.

Naylor earned his sport on the list for the month of November by virtue of his 11.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg average in just three contests.  The freshman tallied a .789 field goal percentage (15-19) and a .556 free throw percentage, shooting 5-of-9 from the charity stripe.

The Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement is designed to recognize the top athletic performers at each SSC member institution in a given calendar month.  Every month, each SSC member institution may nominate student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who meet predetermined criteria during athletic events played during that month.  Sports are recognized during the traditional championship segment for that sport.
