NSU Places a Pair of Student-Athletes on SSC Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement for November
A pair of NSU men’s basketball student-athletes were named
to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s List of Outstanding
Achievement for the month of November, it was announced Friday
by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil. A total of 87 student-athletes
representing all nine SSC member schools were selected to the October
list.
Sophomore point guard Oresti Nitsios
(Victoria, Australia) and freshman David Naylor (Melbourne, Australia)
were both named to the Commissioner’s List of Outstanding
Achievement for the first time.
Nitsios started off the season on a steady
note as he averaged 10.7 points and 2.0 assists in just three
games. The sophomore
notched a .524 field goal percentage (11-21) and a 556 three-point
percentage, shooting 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Nitsios
also finish a perfect 5-of-5 (1.000) from the free-throw line.
Naylor earned his sport on the list for
the month of November by virtue of his 11.7 ppg and 9.0 rpg average
in just three contests. The
freshman tallied a .789 field goal percentage (15-19) and a .556
free throw percentage, shooting 5-of-9 from the charity stripe.
The Commissioner’s List of Outstanding Achievement is designed
to recognize the top athletic performers at each SSC member institution
in a given calendar month. Every month, each SSC member institution
may nominate student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport
who meet predetermined criteria during athletic events played during
that month. Sports are recognized during the traditional
championship segment for that sport.
