Fanya Jabouin-Monnay, M.S. 1997 is the alumni award winner for the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences
As Family Counselor for the Broward County School Board, she provides counseling for students and families, coordinates parental involvement programs, mentoring, peer mediation and volunteering programs, and serves as staff liaison to the school’s Parent Teacher Association.
She has provided workshops for organizations
including the Boys and Girls Club, Broward County Libraries, Family
Central of Broward County, and the Florida Department of Juvenile
Justice.
A member of the Broward County Association
for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Federation of
Teachers, Ms. Jabouin-Monnay is the recipient of Broward County
School Board’s “The Best of the Best Award” and the Florida Association for Marriage and Family’s Cultural Diversity Award.
A consummate student of culture and diversity,
she enjoys writing poetry, learning new languages and traveling.
She is a wife and mother of a vivacious five-year-old
daughter. Fluent in Haitian Creole and conversational French and
Spanish, she mentors three Haitian high school students.
Her future goals include obtaining a doctoral
degree and to open a multigenerational family enrichment center.
