Gregory James, D.O., MPH, FACOFP 1988 is the alumni award winner for the College of Osteopathic Medicine
As the Family Practice Residency Program Director and the Chief of Staff at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Florida, he oversees a medical staff of more than 350 physicians and directs all rotations, clinical activities, and lectures for the Family Practice Residents.
Certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and
Long Term Care for Nursing Homes, his National American Osteopathic
Association Committee appointments include: Commission on College
Accreditation, Council on Scientific Affairs, and Committee on
Health Related Policies.
He has been named to the Board of Directors
for the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.
In 2004, Dr. James was voted “Physician of the Year” by both the Florida Society of the American College of Family Physicians and by the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society.
He was recently recognized by the American
Osteopathic Association as the “Mentor of the Year”. He is the three-time winner of “The Outstanding Faculty Member” award and the two-time winner of “The Outstanding Lecturer” award, both from Suncoast Hosptial’s Medical Education Program.
His goals include solving the medical malpractice
crisis and improving the certification and competency process for
physicians.
