Marino E. Carbonell, Ph.D. '08 a private practitioner and certified addiction professional,l-ias earned a reputation of exeellence in his 1'ielci with more than 18 years of experience as an addiction specialist with areas of expertise that include substance and alcohol abuse, relationship problems, parenting and family issues.

Joseph Clift's, Ed.D. '07 research on same-sex couples was recently publised in the Journal of Homosexuality, 59(6), 839-850. Dr. Clift analyzed the MEPS dataset, a national panel survey of various healthcare variables, to compare healthcare access and perceptions of care among same-sex couples and married opposite-sex couples. This was the first time that the MEPS data was analyzed in this manner.

Alexandra C. Cook, D.B.A. '07, CPA, CFF, has been named the new director of finance for the Broward County Port Everglades Department. Cook comes to Port Everglades from the Office of the Clerk & Comptroller of Palm Beach County, where she served in the capacity of deputy comptroller and finance manager, overseeing cross-functional finance and accounting operations in excess of $3 billion.

Rita Frantz, M.P.A. '86 director of Women and Children at Broward Health Medical Center and Chris Evert Children's Hospital, has been a dedicated member of the Broward Health team for over 35 years. A dynamic leader, Frantz works with the administrative and health care staff to provide strategic direction, leadership and support to ensure the delivery of quality, family-centered health care.

Cameron Howard, M.D. '10 has secured financial donations and discounts in order to acquire endodontic supplies to provide free root canal treatments for needy children within the Tampa Bay community.

Daniel Hurtes, J.D. '09 has joined Greenspoon Marder as an associate in the firm's residential foreclosure department. He was an associate with Conroy Simberg Ganon Krevans Abel Lurvey Morrow & Schefer.

Jackson Health System 'has named Joshua D. Lenchus, D.O. '00 president of medical staff. Lenchus is a physician and osteopath. He is also an associate professor of clinical medicine in the division of hospital medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Barbara Norland, M.B.A. '09 has been named the new executive director of the Junior Orange Bowl. Norland has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in private and nonprofit sectors as well as over 16 years of experience in the South Florida market. Before joining the Junior Orange Bowi, she was the director of developmcnt for CHARLEE of Miami-Dade County.

iCrossing, a global digital marketing agency, announced today the promotion of Karen Pate, Ph.D. '10 to vice president of content strategy. She will lead the agency's long-standing content strategy practice, which helps CMOs understand how to apply content marketing to build connected brands in real time.

Jason Portnof, D.M.D. '02, MD is now Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor and Director, Pediatric Maxillofacial Surgery & Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine. He and his wife, Courtney and son, Justin welcome the addition of Liv Charlotte Portnof on 8/20/12.

Bob Preziosi, D.P.A .'77 has been elected to serve again as Chairman of the Budget Advisory Council for the Town of Davie. He has been Chairman of the group for 8 years. The Council (made up of appointed Davie residents) provides input to the Davie Town Council on matters of budget and finance. Also, Preziosi was interviewed recently by Jimmy Cefalo on WIOD about municipal government bankruptcies.

Chad J. Robinson, J.D. '08 hasjoined Greenspoon Marder as an associate in the firm's complex litigation group in Fort Lauderdale. He was an associate with Cole Scott & Kissane.
