Juliene Alvarado was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She moved to the States to continue her higher education at Nova Southeastern University where she completed a degree in Marketing and a minor in International Business in 2010.  During that time, she worked as a Student Ambassador for the Undergraduate Admissions Office. She also spent a semester abroad in Italy, where she was able to learn and experience Italian culture. After graduating she continued working for the Undergraduate Admissions Office as an Admissions Counselor and pursuing her Master’s of Science in International Business.

Emily Burr is from the Central New York area.  She received her B.A. from Jacksonville University and her  M.Ed. at Florida Atlantic University.  She is currently the Assistant Director of Admissions for the Adult/Non-Traditional student population in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  Emily looks forward to assisting new and returning students through the enrollment process.

Megan Burns is originally from Southbury, CT.  Coming from a state that has no professional sports teams, she considers herself to be a diehard Boston Fan (Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and occasionally Bruins).  She moved to sunny South Florida in 2001 to attend Florida International University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  After a brief stint in corporate America, Megan came to the realization that she did not want to pursue a career in that field.  Megan has worked at NSU since 2006 and recently completed a Master of Science in College Student Affairs.  Having found her true calling, Megan plans to stay in the business of changing students' lives.

Matthew Butler is a Wisconsin native and earned his bachelor’s degree from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL.  He is currently the Transfer Coordinator and works with the Adult/Non-Traditional population in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  Matt serves as the Community College liaison and also recruits at businesses, corporations, and various community organizations.

Arturo Hodgson attended the University of South Florida and Florida Atlantic University for his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications. He is also a graduate of Nova Southeastern University where he earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration and is currently enrolled in his Ph.D. program of Conflict Analysis and Resolution. He has worked in higher education for about 13 years, specializing in recruitment and retention. Being a part of NSU has impacted his life in many different, positive ways. Arturo encourages students to come up and talk with him whenever he is in their area. His territory includes all of the West Coast of Florida, from Pensacola to Naples and Everglades City, Georgia, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, California and parts of New York.

Shane Johnson is a South Florida native and has experience in developing and maintaining successful ongoing relationships in the field of higher education. He makes empowering and advocating for others part of his life's goals. He encourages education, collaboration, creativity, service excellence, and integrity. Shane Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University. One of Shane's many goals include becoming a large contributor to the South Florida community. He plans on doing this by donating his time to mentor students to pursue their goals and aspirations.

Andrew London is an Admissions Counselor for the Undergraduate Admissions Office of Nova Southeastern University.  He received a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from Florida Atlantic University in 1997.  Prior to working for Nova Southeastern University, Mr. London was a licensed mortgage broker working in his field for more than ten years.  Currently, he is enrolled at The Keller Graduate School working to attain a master's degree in accounting.

Jessica Mishael is an Admissions Counselor for the Undergraduate Admissions Office of Nova Southeastern University. She received a B.A. in International Business from Florida International University and then graduated in 2009 with a Master’s of Science in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. During her college years, Jessica also had the opportunity to study abroad twice. She has worked in education for over three years as an Early Childhood educator and in college administration, specifically in admissions. Jessica plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Education in the future, aspiring to further her career in college administration as well as becoming an adjunct professor at NSU.

Patty Rockwood recruits mostly in the Northeast United States: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. She has been in higher education for over 20 years and has worked in undergraduate admissions at NSU since 2003. Patty has a Bachelor of Science degree from Buffalo State College and a Master of Science degree from SUNY at Buffalo.

Denver Stickrod usually gets asked two questions after he introduces himself; “is that your real name?” and “have you ever been to Denver, CO?”  The answer is yes to both questions!  He grew up in Illinois and worked as a graduate assistant in the university registrar’s office while finishing his master’s degree.  This was the pivotal point in his life where he decided to embrace a path in academia.  After graduating, he took a job working in the admissions office of a small, private university in Missouri.  He now works in sunny Florida at one of the best institutions in the state.  That institution is Nova Southeastern University.

Bridget Varisco is originally from Long Island, New York but has lived most of her life here in sunny, south Florida. She received a M.S. in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in Human Sciences from Florida State University. Bridget has been employed with Nova Southeastern University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions since September of 2007 and is the Assistant Director of Recruitment. She thoroughly enjoys working in higher education and assisting prospective students achieve their goals.

Willie H. Wood, Jr. currently works as Counselor in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Nova Southeastern University where he is currently in the Master of Public Administration program. Mr. Wood received bachelor's degrees in Communications and Legal Studies.  He has over five years of experience working with social interactions and communication techniques. He is a founding member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at Nova Southeastern University and currently serves as a Chapter Advisor. His interaction with undergraduate students, resident assistants, Greek organizations, and the community overall has led him to continue building positive interpersonal relationships with the people he meets on a daily basis.

Cyrus T. Wyche is a Florida native and has lived in South Florida for the past five years.  He is currently in the Master’s of Science in Leadership program in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University.  He received a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a major of Criminology from the University of Florida.   While at UF, he took the initiative and became a founding brother of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated.  Working in higher education has been a goal for Cyrus. As an undergraduate admissions counselor, working with incoming students and providing tools for success for new students is the highlight of his day.

Mensima Biney hails from the Garden State of New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree from Rowan University in 1996 and graduated from NSU with an MBA in 2001. Mensima has been working in the University admissions department since 2004. She enjoys attending athletic games and programs on campus. Mensima is also an advisor a student club on campus: Women with a Vision.

Mary Friel is originally from New York but now calls Florida and NSU her home. NSU has been a place that has truly changed her life professionally, personally, and physically.  Professionally, she began her career in Admissions in January of 1994 as an Admissions Counselor at a small private school in Buffalo, NY.  She now serves as the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment at NSU, where she supervises both the counseling and recruitment teams. Personally, she is enrolled in a master’s degree program at NSU in the School of Humanities and Social Science. Physically, she joined NSU’s Biggest Loser Program which taught her healthy eating strategies for her busy schedule and got her back to a regular workout routine. When not working, studying or at the gym, she enjoys attending many of NSU’s activities and athletic events where you will find her cheering on the NSU Sharks!  NSU is an amazing place and she hopes it changes your life the way it has hers.
