Value Added Academic Programs
Nova Southeastern University offers many exciting and challenging choices to expand your academic college experience and your world. From our Honors Program to Travel Study, all with exploration, research and leadership opportunities within, NSU strives to add another dimension to your college education. It's the perfect opportunity to try something you've always dreamed of doing, or never dreamed you'd do.
Honors Program
It's amazing what you can accomplish when all the traditional boundaries are stripped away. NSU created the Honors Program for students who have demonstrated a passion for learning and crave more from their college experience. The program is intensely personal, offering broader, richer and deeper insights into topics that are appealing to each individual student. The goal isn't to make students work harder, but to help them get more from the work they do.
Carefully selected faculty members and coursework ensure that the program is engaging and involved, which places emphasis on achieving greater understanding of concepts. The program fosters powerful mentoring relationships between students and their professors, and provides life-changing learning opportunities through research, social activities, real-world encounters, and study abroad. Travel Study
Textbooks are great, but sometimes, you just have to get your hands dirty and see things for yourself. NSU's extensive field-based studies offer an unparalleled exposure to the real world, all over the world. Students have recently documented the cultural geography and ecology of Madagascar, Belize, and Kenya; learned about the law in Cambridge, England; explored ecotourism in East Africa; studied endangered species in Ecuador; lived on an island on Australia's Great Barrier Reef; and more in our Travel Study Program. Bottom line: Wherever there's an open mind, there's an NSU professor ready to teach. For more information on the Travel Study program , visit the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
The Clinic Exploration Program
You could sit at home and watch ER, Grey's Anatomy, or Scrubs; or you could discover what really goes on in the medical world by shadowing medical professionals in one of NSU's clinics. Pre-med or prekindergarten, your major doesn't matter. This unique program is open to all undergraduate students, and it's a great way to learn about the medical career options and see how various medical professions work together. Undergraduate Student Symposium
Sometimes, you don't realize how much you know until you share it with others. That's the whole point of the Undergraduate Student Symposium. Working in conjunction with a faculty sponsor, selected undergraduate students from all disciplines can use the symposium as a showcase for their academic achievements. From the experimental and the applied to the computational, theoretical, artistic, and literary, students can present projects and/or performances through oral presentations, paper submissions and poster displays. For more information on past symposium submissions and winners visit the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
